FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Should I visit urgent care or the emergency room?

Patients with serious, life-threatening conditions should always visit the emergency room. Examples include heart attack, stroke, severe head or brain injuries, or any other ailment where immediate care is required, and the patient simply can’t wait. You may also be better served at the emergency room if you have serious underlying health conditions in addition to acute illness or injury.

However, for most minor to moderate injuries and illnesses, Lincoln Urgent Care can provide excellent care without the long wait times or surprise bills at the emergency room. Health concerns we treat at our clinics include fractures and broken bones, lacerations, concussions, sports injuries, minor burns, allergic reactions, fever and flu, migraines, and many more. In addition to saving time and money, you’re helping to reduce pressure on the local hospital emergency department, ensuring that staff can focus on patients who need life-saving care.

What do I need to bring?

To ensure we can provide you with quick access to care, please bring a government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, state ID, or military ID) and your insurance card. If you’re uninsured, you should bring a self-pay payment method such as a credit card or cash. If you have a primary care physician, please inform our staff of their name and contact information so we may follow up with them after your visit.

Please bring a list of any medications you currently take, as well as any known allergies. You should also inform your provider of any medical history relevant to your care, including chronic conditions, past surgeries, or other procedures. You may also wish to provide recent test results or discharge papers if they’re relevant to your reason for visiting us.

Work-related injuries require your employer’s information, the number of your workers’ compensation claim, and details about the circumstances of your injury.

If you’re seeking care for your child, you may wish to bring their vaccination records, medical history, and comfort item (such as a favourite toy or stuffed animal) to your visit.

Do you accept my insurance plan?

We accept a wide variety of insurance plans from major insurers like BlueCross BlueShield, Kaiser, SutterHealth, and UnitedHealthcare. We also accept VA benefits, even after the third visit. We encourage you to review the full list of insurers we accept before your visit.

Do you offer [specific service]?

We offer a wide variety of medical services, including both emergency medicine and routine procedures. Emergency medicine services include but are not limited to wound care, concussions, insect and animal bites, and tending to fever and flu symptoms. Routine services we provide include sports physicals, vaccine administration (including flu shots), and TB testing.  Please consult our website for the full list of urgent care concerns we treat and the primary care services we provide.

We’re also proud to offer onsite blood testing and X-rays at a fraction of the cost of the ER. Tests we can perform include pregnancy testing, STD testing, glucose testing, and strep throat/influenza/mononucleosis testing, as well as more extensive testing when required. EKG/ECGs are also available onsite.

Do I need to follow up with my primary care physician, and when?

Depending on your concern, you may need to follow up with your primary care physician or with us. If your health issue is chronic and requires monitoring, we recommend you follow up with your primary care doctor as soon as possible after you visit with us. However, if your issue is not chronic, you may simply schedule a follow-up appointment at our clinic.

Please note that although Lincoln Urgent Care Roseville provides some routine medical services, we do not offer ongoing primary care, and Dr. Ellis is unable to take on new primary care patients at this time.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed to visit our urgent care clinic in Lincoln, CA. Our clinic operates 7 days a week on a walk-in basis, allowing patients to simply drop in and receive prompt assessment and care. Should you need a referral for a specialist, however, we’d be pleased to assist you in finding a qualified physician who’s right for you.
